For the CB radio experts out there, wondered if you know what's going on here. I've got a Cobra 29 WXST, connected to a 3' Firestick, mounted to my bed rail and grounded to the truck frame. The radio receives loud and clear, but when I transmit, the receiving radio makes a loud feedback-squawking sound. It's done this for a couple years and usually I'm just listening so I don't worry about it, but with some upcoming trips I'd like it to be able to transmit. Sent it to a pro shop, who couldn't find anything wrong with it. Swapped another radio into my truck with the same exact antenna setup, and it worked great. I've checked SWR many times, and always have good ratios. When I turn soundtracker on and off, the sound changes but doesn't go away. All other adjustments (gain, etc.) make no difference whatsoever. Any ideas?

What kind of mic are you using? Maybe try a different mic. So even when RF turned back it still squeals? Also make sure it not just acoustic interference. Get the mic far away from the radio and try transmitting. If not those it may be a ground issue.

this pretty much sums it up. My first thought would be the RF as well.. but if you say there's no difference.. then :notsure:

Tried two different mics, same problem. No change with rf adjustments. I was hoping it was just an acoustic feedback issue, but folks in other separate vehicles have given me sound checks that confirmed the sound was still there. I thought maybe a grounding issue too, except when I put a buddy's cobra 29 in my system, it worked great. Seems like it's gotta be internal to the radio somehow.

If swapping out the radio fixes the problem ... :notsure:
