What is the difference in Sound between 5.25 and 6.75 inch Component speakers?

Example: Say I want Focal Component speakers.
Say I want to choose between this 5.25 inch set.
    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_091130AS/Focal-130AS.html

    or this 6.75 inch set.
    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_091165AS/Focal-165AS.html

These are both "Access Series" sets,,,, but there is about a 1.5 in. difference in diameter between these two sets. The larger set is rated for slightly more power (60 watts as opposed to 50 watts).10 watts difference here does not seem like a huge amount.

Can I expect there to be a significant difference in Sound between these two sets?
Or: are the different sizes just to make allowances for ease of installation in vehicles that different size door panels, etc?

Better mid bass performance from the larger speaker.

    OK...that makes sense.

Let me give a better example.
Say I want to run one of those sets in my front doors.
Say I have a 4 channel amp like this.
    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KAC8406/Kenwood-KAC-8406.html?tp=35782
    or this
    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136JX3604/JL-Audio-JX360-4.html?tp=35782

Say I wanted to run the door speakers through the amp and then bridge the other 2 channel of the amp and run a small sub (8 or 10 inches).

Would it be better to choose the Larger component set over the Smaller set?
Would it even MATTER, since most of the base signal would go through the Sub? Maybe its just a matter of Tuning with Crossovers and Amp Settings?

I dont mean to be Nit Picky with my questions. Im just trying to better understand all the Options and maybe separate some of the Marketing Hype from the Street Reality......There are SO many choices. Lol...

Quick question, are you going to buy an aftermarket head unit? Just wondering about the speaker inputs...

I already have an aftermarket Head unit.
Pioneer Deh-8600BS. six preamp outs @ 4volts each.

P.S. After doing more research, I'm pretty much leaning towards the Larger diameter speakers.

Bigger is better in this case.
