I am new to the forum, but see a lot of people trying to help each other...so I am giving my questions a try. I want to upgrade the head unit in my 2006 DC 4x4. I have the 6 disc in dash unit, with steering wheel controls, and non JBL. I want to upgrade to a 7" DVD with Navigation, Blue Tooth, IPOD control, and I want to keep the steering wheel controls functioning. Has anyone done an upgrade like this? It seems like each thing I want to add, has to have an additional piece of electronics. Suggestions are appreciated...

To keep the steering wheel controls, you'll need an additional componant for most aftermarket HU's.

I have a Pioneer HU and have a control modual made by PAC. It's probably the most popular from what I've read. It's a programable interface the fits most aftermarket HU's made by Pioneer and Sony. There may be others as well, but this is what I have.

My suggestion is to go to Crutchfield.com and customize the front page to fit your specific truck and audio setup. It's really easy to do, and it cuts out all of the products that will not work and/or fit in your truck.
