Not sure the difference on the 4000 vs the 4100, but the 4100, 7100 and 8100 are all the new models for 2015, have Android Auto and Car Play out of the box (not a software update)

Also the 41,71 have an improved touchscreen that's almost as good as the capacitive screens used in our phones. So it won't suck ass using the screen anymore. Also, the 8100 is capacitive.

I'm still doing research, but I'm getting the NEX 7100 free for work reasons.. Coming in a few weeks, so need to know what all I'll need for my 2011 taco. Backup cam adapter, controls for steering wheel, etc.. They're paying for install too, so that's nice. Even though I enjoy doing that stuff myself.

Just a general stereo question: I'm looking at a nice unit that has Nav, Bluetooth, etc, but also looking at other units that have everything but the Nav. Do most/all of these units have the ability to use your phones GPS via Bluetooth onto the head unit?

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but if you are still looking for camera recommendations, I recommend the Rostra CMOS tailgate handle camera from M&R Electronics: http://www.mnrelectronics.com/2005-2015-toyota-tacoma-cmos-tailgate-handle-camera-250-8610/. Just installed this in my 2006 along with the NEX 4000 a few weeks ago and love both of them.

I doubt you'll find many that don't have blue tooth but if you want to see your phones screen on the display you need to check .

Thanks, but I ended going with a Pioneer AVIC 5100NEX. It has NAV. It seemed like some of them would interface with the phone, but was pretty limited according to the Crutchfield rep.

the 5100 doesn't do Android Auto or Apple Car Play.. only the 4100, 7100, and 8100...

Talked to a Pioneer rep.. the problem with the HU locking up where everything works, but there's NO audio, is a problem with the Metra Axxess TOYO-01 kit not getting enough power. For whatever reason when it gets power and starts up the HU, it doesn't push enough. To solve this splice an additional 12v wire into it for more power, and you'll never have this problem again.
