I just bought a new home, and my garage door opener will not link with my buttons on my rear view mirror. 2012 Tacoma.

This is the mirror I have:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...oma-rear-view-mirror-w-home-link-display.html

This is the garage door opener I have; it came with the home:

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/39176654?...05536009&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=88452590649&veh=sem

The buttons on the rear view mirror programmed to my old home perfectly, but doesn't seem to like this opener much. What are the parameters for the opener to have so it will link? Is it manufacturer specific, etc?

    Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried this procedure?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ63TdjMvIQ

My husband and I reprogrammed our mirror/vehicles to our new home last year.
This procedure works fine and should work for all and any homelink brand.

If its not working....put new batteries in your controller and try again.

Did you clear all codes from your Homelink?

We have 3 garage doors... we went through this a few months ago. All will work well.

How do I clear it? Is this spelled out in the user manual?

Hold down the two outer homelink buttons until the lights start flashing. It is in the video Janster posted at about 1:00 in.

I cleared the buttons on the mirror and tried linking the opener again but no luck.

I see where it says to press the learn button on the opener itself, then do the setup on the mirror, but won't that make my existing opener lose functionality? I want the opener and my truck to work....

They're talking about the opener mechanism mounted on your garage ceiling, not another remote. Usually if you open the cover where the lightbulb is there's a button to press that sets up the mechanism to facilitate programming an additional remote (like your truck).

The opener attached to the garage is what I am referring to. Once I hit that learn button and train my truck, my working garage door opener would no longer work, correct?

No, that is not correct. I have 5 different remotes (3 built-in to vehicles) all programmed to open my garage door. I had to press the "learn" button on the overhead opener for each remote/vehicle as I added them. If one of them quits working when as you add the others, simply ADD it back in.

Ahhh gotcha! I thought hitting the learn button would erase all codes, and only keep the one you programmed at that moment. I'll shoot for that!

I did. I was under the assumption that hitting the learn button on the opener on the garage ceiling would erase all codes and only save the one programmed at that moment.

I'll give the learn button a shot soon.

All the learn button does is tell the opener to accept whatever code the transmitter is sending.
