Where to route signal cable and turn on lead?

Im going to put my amp under the driver seat with the power cable on the left side of the truck straight to the amp. My first plan was to route the sinal cable and turn on lead on the right side and crossover under the rear access cab carpet, under the driver seat and into the amp. That looked pretty hard so do you think i can just route these wires to the left of the head unit, through the center consol and down under the seat without getting any interference or is that to close? How far apart does the power wire and the signal cable have to be in order to get no interference? Sorry if thats confusing, thanks for the help

 

I wouldn't do it but that's just me. I would stay as far away from the power wire as possible, especially if you are using thick power wire. I absolutely hate engine noise and other interferences.

 

i think you'll be fine routing the power down the left and others down the center...

 

Your grounding point is more important than where you route your wiring. Make sure you get it cleaned off to bare metal and make a solid connection.

Too many times I've seen the "power wire is too close to the rca's" problem, yet the connections are hideous. But they blamed it on that.

I've run them next to each other many times with zero interference. Good connections and good wire/cabling is a must.

 

I agree with GoBlueFan on this... I have my left speakers and tweeter wire running next to a zero gauge power wire, and the sound output is still crystal clear. I'm using nice thick Tsunami wire, and I sanded the crap out of the spot where I grounded my amps. Do it right the first time with good equipment, and you'll have clean sound, no doubt.

 

most of the myth issues relate to the RCA's and power wire. In the past, with crap RCA's and poor grounding on either the radio, or the amp itself (or any other number of components for that matter), you could get some engine noise. 9 out of 10 times, it's going to be a grounding issue somewhere.

 

i ran mine down the center consol, under the shifter.

I use the seatbelt mounting bolts for my grounds if possible. Just have to make sure you get a large enough ring terminal for the bolt to go through.

Should I put the ring directly behind the bolt, or should it be touching the bare metal mounting bracket that its all attached to.

There are also several unused M10 bolt holes with threaded insert under your console. I am in the process right now of installing my stuff and that is where I'm going to ground at. Just strip the paint and you'll have a super easy, great place to ground.
