iPhone 3G Mounts
Hi, I'm looking for a car mount for my iPhone 3G[s] that will be arriving this week. I have found several for my Tacoma that cover the air vents. I do not prefer this type of mount due to the risk of condensation turning my water sensor red. Also, I do not think that the suction dash mounts would work due to the limited dash space. However, I have tried neither of these methods and that is why I am here. If anyone can point me to a good mount that does not require blocking the air vents I would much appreciate it. My truck is a 2002 (Second Generation) SR5. I would prefer a mount with charging/transmitting ability to negate the amount of cables hanging in front of my dash. However, any suggestions would be great. After all, I can always "ghetto rig" something right?

check this out:
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/roadtrip I have an older version of the Tuneflex Aux for my '09 and it works pretty nicely. Though it's a little bit jittery, but supposedly the newer ones are more stable. |

I'm also always looking, but I think I might wait and see what the Tom Tom mount looks like when they finally add GPS. There is no info about price yet, but the pics from WWDC look nice.

I think I've decided (from doing some research throughout the web and also on the forums) that I'm going to purchase just a regular mount without the charger or transmitter and use the GROM iPod interface (www.gromaudio.com/ipod) for clarity reasons. I'll probably try to run the docking cable either from right above my A/C controls or from where the dash meets the windshield depending on where my mount goes. I would like to have it mounted right at the top of the dash if at all possible. That way it's close enough to eye level for me to see but not so much as to be distracting while driving. So I guess now comes the hunt for the perfect mount. Please send all suggestions this way.
P.S. I have tried using a few transmitters such as the one shown and haven't had much luck with them. They tend to always fall left or right on turns and they're mounted a little too low for my liking with the 12V ports being so low in my truck. |

I got one from the Apple store. It suction cups onto the little circle thing which I have mounted in the passenger cup holder. Holds it right in front of the aux/power outlets. Nice easy access, and the passenger can hold their drink. Let me know if you want a phoot.
