CB Radio and Ant.

What kind of setups are you guys running? How much and where did you get it from?

Hows the clarity and range?

 

mine is terrible right now, having trouble getting it to tune, but I think it's because my radio is mounted right under my head unit.

 

Off of the internet (ebay/Amazon) I got a 3' firefly antenna, mirror mount, Midland handheld CB, 18' of coax, with a quick disconnect. $155 for everything.
I am picking up truckers on the interstate which is an hour away from me. I have an 8 guage ground wire.

 

im wanting to mount one in my regular cab but where are some good places to mount them? the radios, not the antenna

 

So its looking like Cobra 19DX is the winner and still looking at ant. I will take a look at those fireflys

 

is firestik the best? what about long whip antennas? do they provide better range?

 

Im running a midland 1001z it was $45.00 at northern tool and equipment. and im running a 102" whip that was like 20 at rat shack. the whole set up cost about $100 bucks

Can't go wrong with this Midland. $28 shipped. I went with a Wilson "Lil Wil" magnet antenna ($30). Works great.

If you do not want to tear the dash apart or hang it head high try a pedistal mount...2" plate mounts anywhere solid and the 6" -2 piece swivels to allow any number of radios.plus the top plate allows you to bolt your radio bracket for ease of radio removal by just twisting the 5mm knobs...

Antennas can drive you "Nuts" BUT without a good one a $400 radio will sound like $hit...the 102" whip is the "balls" BUT not everyone needs that flopping around.from there you can go crazy....My Lil Wil moves from the Taco to the Camry and my "Mack office" has either my Wilson Silver tips or 2000's......and my Predator 10k awaits my new tool box..I might actually Hard wire a permanent radio into the Taco ..The blue lites of the Magnum might bode well with the interior reds ..
