Access cab sub install with custom enclosure

Hey Guys,

I had a buddy of mine built me a speaker box for my access cab. I wanted something simple, inexpensive and easy to uninstall if needed so this is what I came up with. All you have to do is remove the two plastic pieces in the seats that are held in my two measly little screws. This box fits perfect right in the middle and is held in by one bungee that fastens to the seats. Build quality is superb and clean as a whistle. Front dimensions are 16"x16". I'm sure he could do any size you want and it only cost me $70 shipped (west coast might be more). If anybody is interested just let me know and I will post his contact info.

looks good are you gonna carpet it to match the seats? I have been wanting to get a sub in my truck too, i think Im gonna make my own though i have a little experience making em so im looking forward to it.

 

Yeah I'm going to carpet it. Just haven't gotten around to it. Wanted to test it out first!!

Looks like a good start-Are you going to finish it the same as the truck interior?? Edit-Nevermind- Posted the answer already...

Have you thought about anything more permanent then a bungee?? Cause I can see that thing going thru the windshield or into the back of someone's head in an accident.

 

Yeah I have thought about that too. It's really sturdy with the bungee though. Any better ideas for securing it??

 

Ehh...Not off the top of my head. I'd have to start monkeying around with it.

 

Yeah, some kind of quick release buckle would be nice

 

Yeah...I was pondering that. Going thru the back wall so you could bolt to something reasonably solid with a buckle of some sort.

Or maybe an extra piece of MDF that could "hook" in behind the seat??

 

Maybe I will buy a couple small turnbuckles from Lowes and zip tie them to the seat brackets then install a couple metal eyelets on the side of the box and fasten it that way. Would probably look a lot better than the bungee too.

these are something else, you lose your console and its really expensive but a really cool idea.

 

these are a really cool idea but i haven't really heard very good things about them... they do take up a lot of space and i guess they don't sound that great and aren't much louder then the stock sub..

 

mine doesnt have a stock sub, for the trucks that do come with a stock sub where is it?

 

its right between the two back seats in the access cabs.

i think it sounds pretty good.... a lot better then without it, in my opinion.
