Subwoofer Help

So I purchased an Alpine MRP-F600 amp and some aftermarket speakers and now am looking towards a subwoofer. after speaking to mr. marv I'm undecided if I want to go with an image dynamics IDQ 10" or a pioneer 10". Only problem I have is trying to decide on possibly which 10". Any suggestions on any pioneer shallowmounts? Thanks ahead of time

Yesterday i was at the local audio shop asking the same question. Which SUb? Guy told me both the Pioneer and Rockford p3 shallows sound good but the rockford was better. the pioneer was built for extremely small areas and our trucks are not extremely small. He said the p3 shallow would do me better, and he could do 2 12"s and run a 500 on them. so your 600 should make 2 of these 10's or 12's sound really good.

yeah i've heard the rockford and it sounded good. Just from talking to mr marv he said the pioneer were a great choice or he really liked the image dynamics IDQ. I figured I would run 2 channels to the front speakers and bridge the other two to my sub. I figured I would just start w one 10". I think that'll be enough for me for right now

If your going to use 1 10" then the IDQ is a no brainer. It will walk all over the pioneer, because shallow mount subs are designed to save space, and produce SOME low frequency extension. They do a good job, but the IDQ is an almost perfect all around subwoofer. There would be no comparison, but it is not a level playing field. Know what I mean?

yeah it makes sense. I hadnt heard the image dynamics i just heard it was a great setup. The pioneers seemed like mayb quite a few people have. I know I will have to make space but how big of an enclosure do you think I'd need? I was hoping to pull out the factory JBL so called sub and just placing the IDQ in that spot and put the amp under the passenger seat. What do u think?

You could run a 10 in a 1 cubic foot box, less than that, and it would be a little tighter, but not as deep. I dont know how much depth you have in the factory box, but I doubt the aftermarket sub would fit. It is probably made of plastic, and would resonate so bad, you couldnt stand it, so you would have to sound deaden the crap out of it. The IDQ is basically a small ID Max, it is still a fairly large woofer. If your wanting to keep the factory enclosure, you may have to do the shallow. Again though, I am NOT familiar with the factory enclosure in the truck.........at all.

I have no problem getting rid of the factory enclosure I'll just remove the plastic. I just wanted to make sure I wouldnt have to take out the plastice behind the driver side because I store cables and tools back there.

I run IDQ's myself, two 10's in my Taco and two 12's in my competition car. The IDQ is the best SQ sub I have heard and judges seem to agree with my multiple wins in IASCA SQ competition. I will say the IDQ will get down and dirty loud too if you have the juice.

Well right now I just have an alpine 4 channel that I'm gonna bridge two of the channels to the sub. I figured I would just run one ten and put it behind the passenger rear seat where the jbl stock enclosure is. I should call marv to see how much the idq's are and how much do enclosures normally run?
