So if I understand correctly, the mobile ham set ups don't require SWR tuning?

I just passed my tech test this week and have been searching for a mobile set up for my '09 access cab. I was thinking of a Kenwood TM-281A. I would love to have a remote face set up, but that's outside my budget. I like the clean set ups i've seen on the site.

For VHF and UHF you shouldnt have to tune anything. when you get into HF then tuning is a big deal

You should be able to find remote head radios for a couple hundred to a few hundred buck.
