??hard wired power to sirius receiver??

who can answer how this should work? i have attempted with no results. meaning i used the original cigarette power supply, removed the cigarette adapter, separated the wires grounding 1 and running the other to the 15 amp fuse showed in the pic i believe its an ignition fuse. shouldnt this work?

sirius stratus receiver with 5v input. how would i wire the cig plug to use in the fuse box?
