I'm looking for a new set of 6.5's for front speakers in my 05. What are some good, loud, clean sounding speakers with only head unit power?? It's an Alpine and not factory. I was thinking about Pioneer Premiers or something similar. Maybe even a set of components if my head unit will push them. Come on, I need some recommendations!!

I have done the Alpine Type S and the Boston Acoustic SC65. Much happier with the Bostons. Nice sensitive speaker. I would go coax rather than component. Look for something with a 90+db sensitivity.

I totally agree with the high sensitivity comment. That's the exact thought I was having when I read the first post. I'd suggest a pair of Focal 165V1's. I think they're 93db efficient if I remember correctly. I had a pair in my IS300 and they were beautiful. I won my first sound quality competition with just those in my car....no sub :D

True but I won't have to worry with where to put it and running wires for a second amp. I can slap it behind my dash and I found it online for $90. Figured I'll just give it a shot first.

Let us know how it does. I like the simplicity of it myself.
