Hopefully someone can help...I'm kind of a knucklehead with these things.

I have a 2009 Tacoma with an aux input jack and a portable xm radio. All facets of the installation went smooth--antenna on roof, ran the cable thru the weather stripping down thru door jam and under the carpet to the dash. I plug the audio cable from the xm radio cradle into the aux input, turn the car and xm radio on and I get no sound. sound is fine using headset. any ideas?

I haven't tried it in the Tacoma yet but in my 4Runner you have to turn the volume up pretty darn loud to hear it. Ipod too.
Don't forget to push aux button on the radio.

Some helpful info for both of you, the volume control is adjustable for axillary and satellite inputs, see attached.

Check and see if your XM reciever has a vehicle mode. If it does go to the vehicle mode and turn the FM modulator OFF. Vehicle mode should be in the menu for your reciever. I hope this works. Im sure it will.

Oh, just remembered one other thing..... I have Sirius, my portable tuner has a volume control within the tuner. Do not know if yours does, but you can check it out, if so, turn that up a little.
    Good luck!

That's I'll have to try this out since I can't stand having to have the volume at like 50 for XM just to be able to hear it.

I have a 2010 and am using the factory antenna, Aux-in and an external Sirius unit with no problems. My aux-in is the same volume as the FM radio/ CD player.
As posted above, make sure your volume is up on your external unit.

Thanks to everyone for replying. Maxing out the volume on the truck radio worked like a charm--I also increased the "Line Out Level" on the XM radio. Even better is that each AM, FM1, FM2 and CD/AUX have their own volume setting, so I don't have to worry about switching from AUX (volume maxed) to FM1 (volume low/middle) and have the radio blaring.

Hey, I have a 2009 Access Cab Tacoma and when I plug either iPod or Sirius into the aux input sometimes the right speaker doesnt work, and when it does there is no bass. Was wondering if other people were having the same problem and knew what was wrong.
