You need the one that comes with 2 plugs, the 3rd plug in your truck works with the factory steering wheel controls and the factory radio. Without an adapter these will not work with your aftermarket Head unit. Hope that helps. What brand is the adapter you have? Also what year is your truck?

From what I can tell the Scoshe part number for the harness is TA02B. For Reference the Metra part numbers for the 2005-2008 are: Non JBL is 70-1761 and the JBL is TYTO-01. Hope that helps.

What kind of aftermarket radio was it? If it was a DVD player, this may have been the lead that the installer put on to go to your parking brake wire. This would prevent you from watching DVDs while driving down the road. Unless it is for an alarm system of some kind, in which case - I would want my money back on that one.
Otherwise - I am out of ideas... Sorry to hear that someone got you.

Great write-up, always love forums for this reason.
I have an 09 X-Runner that I just got 2 days ago. I want to replace the factory deck with the one from the car I traded in. Its a Sony deck that has the USB port, iPod controls, etc. I liked it in my VW.. Anyways, the new X-Runners have the "Flux Capacitor" Sub Woofer thing mounted on the back wall of the access cab. I am wondering if that is going to complicate my installation of my after-market deck? Should I just be able to plug and play with the standard harnesses you can get at places like Circuit City/Best Buy, etc, or is this Sub going to make it sound all crazy? If anyone knows, I would really appreciate it! Thanks, Greg |

Installed my deck today. In case anyone is wondering, the sub that comes stock in the 2009 X-Runner is no problem. Just connect like normal and the sub still works like it did with the factory unit.
I got a little freaked out when I pulled the factory unit because there were 4 plugs. The harness I bought only had 2. I guess the other two are for the optional satellite radio module and something else. Must be pre-wired. I just left them hanging behind the new deck. Hope this helps some other X-Runner folks.
