Help with new stereo head unit

I have been to a couple of car audio shops with little progress, here is what I am looking for in a new stereo;
  • GPS
  • Serius radio
  • Bluetooth
  • iphone-ipod compatable
  • Something that will play DVD's
  • Ability to use existing steering wheel controls for volume and station search, etc..
Looking for something under $1k in price as well.

Thanks in advance.

for Sirius you are still going to need the receiver link from TSS-RADIO.com, I am now aware of any HU out there that has the build in receiver.

have you searched onlinecarstereo.com or crutchfield with your options? I looked a while back for a 2din with nav and did see a few did come with the steering wheel controls, sirius, nav and ipod input. I don't have any specific models but there are a few under 1k which should fit your needs

This thing is a steal at 599, and has all the functions you are looking for. YOu can also utilize the factory steering whhel controls with no added parts.

Crutchfield will be your friend for looking for the right HU with the feature you want. Price wise, they can be beat by sonicelectronix or a host of other places. But, total quality of service during and after the sale, including freebies for the install, crutchfield is hard to beat.

In that price range, you might be able to get a Kenwood reviever (the best GPS, IMO) or a nice Pioneer or Eclipse. The Eclipse deck posted about is a pretty awesome deal. I'd still lean towards a Kenwood deck if good GPS and overall user friendliness is a concern for you.

I'm going with an AVIC-X910BT myself. It's a Pioneer unit that includes all those features. It's a fantastic unit and is very usable. The GPS looks great too.

So instead of buying a 2 year old head unit and adding everything on, why not just buy the AVN726e, with everything built in (brand new and better technology) for the same price?

Hey I'm also looking for a new HU and have the exact stipulations as the OP.

Does the AVN726e have an aux-in on the rear? On crutchfield it lists it as an a/v input. Can it be used for just audio for other ipod or external sirius?

What are you using the Aux in for?

I would use the aux in for my external Sirius radio. I want to leave the Sirius separate so I can switch it between vehicles. I may just need to buy the Sirius adapter I guess.

Mine is removable. I always have it out when I'm parked unless I'm making a quick delivery for work. Cause I work in a very wealthy area and the delivery only takes a few seconds. Sometimes if I'm at a friends house, then I'll leave it in. But almost always it's out. I have the viper alarm so it adds peace of mind.
