Added Auxiliary Power Outlet

I needed an extra power outlet, so I tapped into an extra line found under the cup holder. The cup holder removes by lifting straight up. I cut the Blue Wire with a Black stripe (this goes to the rear AC 400 Watt plug, I have an SR5 = no plug). I added a standard female 12v plug to the wire and grounded to an exposed piece of metal. Hope this helps someone.

 

Using this connection is the power outlet hot all the time or only with the key in the acc or on positions?

 

Nope, it only works when the key is switched to ON. If you know a way to change this, let me know...

 

I did and I wondered whether the one you did would provide a constant on outlet. Thanks for the info.

sorry to revive a dead thread but, I just did this so I could power my Sirius radio with the wires tucked away and it worked wonderfully sitting in the driveway. Next day I go out to run some errands and the power to my radio kept cutting out. After about 10 minutes of driving and getting frustrated at the choppy radio I pinned it to the clutch. The power to the outlet was only lost if the clutch was in for a prolonged amount of time (starting out in 1st) and not lost on quicker shifts (2-6). Anyone have any idea what the deal is. I can't even imagine how these things are connected.
