Can anyone think of a better system than this?

Definitely talk with Mr.Marv about your speakers/baffles.

A while back he told me the best system he had ever heard in a truck (yes, any truck, not just a tacoma) was a setup with a JL TW5, a set of Hybrid Audio Legatia components, and a Kenwood DNX8120. Of course proper install is key...
x2, I've never seen such slow response to my emails.. oh wait, they NEVER did respond.

X3 on Tacotunes sucks. (personal experience)
x3 on Mr. Marv is the way to go. (personal experience)

Hybrid Audio stuff is highly recommended (Marv can hook u up...personal experience)

HU - Don't cheap out there. I bought the DNX-5120...wish I'd bought 8120...now 9140...now in January Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer will announce new models at CES. I'm personally going to upgrade to whatever looks best after that.

Audison BitOne - I love that friggin thing! Worth at least looking into.

Sub for Tacoma - IDQ 10 or JL 13.5 shallow mount are top of the list.

^I'm actually going to CES this year. If I get to see ONE vendor booth it will be Pioneer because I want to see what new stuff they have coming out. I've been in the market as you probably read and I'm dying to see what comes next after the Avic X910BT.

Nice, please post your observations. When checking out the Pioneer offerings, could you please check on iPod DAC bypass capabilities? I find this to be something that Pioneer and Kenwood have missed. Alpine has it, but I hear nothing but horror stories on the Alpine NAV HUs. The ability to play lossless via iPod while bypassing the iPod DAC is a big miss to date by Pioneer/Kenwood.

Sorry to get off subject, but I do think this is good food for thought when planning a system.
