Stereo Antitheft Mods

Any ideas out there for cheap, temporary/semipermanent mods that would make a stereo that much harder to steal in a 2nd gen taco?

The only thing I've ever seen before was a friend of mine had a civic and he had a retainer bar behind the stereo that would have to be cut to get the stereo back out quickly, or you would have to take apart about 2/3's of the dash.

Any interesting ideas?

 

Sticker that says radio will not work if removed or says it needs a pin. This will probably only work if the theives can read and/or care about the little sticker.

 

Considering that you already have to take apart several pieces of the dash, I'm fairly confident that there is already enough deterrent in having to work for 20 minutes or so without getting caught, so really just any ideas to slow them down even more.

Swap out any fasteners you are worried about with something from that site.

I literally have the bits for all of those. for some reason the Air Force thinks they are great for skin pannels and equipment on airplanes. You know so the local thief doesnt come out and start stealing parts lol

well if some one gets close enough to the jet to steal something, wayyyy to many people have already FAILED! lol

 

I know they are coarse threads and just thread into plastic, the exact threading not sure

 

Not a bad Idea. Although I heard of a guy who actually did something similar. He had his stereo stolen a few times. So he carefully hung up a bunch of fish hooks behind the dash. The next morning he walked out to his truck to find a guy laying halfway in the truck with his arm stuck up behind the dash. He called the police but told them there was no need to hurry because the theif was not going anywhere anytime soon.

 

i would love to see a picture of something like that tough that would be awsome if that works .... i would help my self out with some karate moves before i even let the cops come in ... .

Yeah, but where do you stash a DD faceplate when you are out and about? The glovebox? You can't lock it....
