I have the same question. Whatever you do, don't buy the Toyota Ipod interface kit (PT545-00082) like I did if your head unit has the built in XM. Here's a nice write up from a local Toyota dealer here
about what models that interface works with. I bought two of those kits, and it works great on my wife's RAV4 stock head unit. I'll probably be trying to sell the other kit here soon. I'll be subscribing to this thread to see if some of the audio experts give you (and me) some good advice.

What was the issue with the Toyota interface? Is it because it takes the sat radio away and you didn't want to lose the sat radio?

From what I've read, the JBL Premium head unit with built-in (branded) XM doesn't give you the option of disabling the SAT radio. There have been other TW members with that issue as well. The Ipod interface works well with SAT ready head units. Click on the link in my earlier post to go to the Longo Toyota blog page on the Ipod interface.

I'm using the AUX port for now, which sucks when I see my wife controlling her ipod with her steering wheel controls. There MUST be something, but I haven't found it yet. Kind of a screwed situation when you have some component in your head unit that you can't get rid of and the only way to benefit from it is if you PAY a subscription. Hate the head unit, love the truck.
