01 factory radio mounting bracket??

Ok guys, I need to install my double din in my 01 double cab. When i bought the truck it already had a aftermarket single din radio and mounting kit. Obviously this won't work for me. My question... Is the factory double din mounting bracket two pieces, or is it a single sleeve? I'd like to know what I'm describing when I call the salvage yards to locate the part.

Also, for some reason, the factory harness was cut instead of using an adapter! I know, that's hard to believe when an adapter costs a whole $10, but it's true. I would like to splice the factory harness back in (as i constantly change stereo set ups and don't want to keep saudering to factory harness), but am having trouble finding one. Any suggestions other than salvage yard?
