Sound insulating foam.

I'm planning on upgrading my speakers and while I have the doors apart I'm going to do what I can to line them. I have 72 sq ft of dynamat extreme and I'm interested in adding foam like I've seen in some of the installation guides. I work for a foam packaging company and have access to a variety of open and closed cell foams in various density's.

I've seen ensolite mentioned as an option but we don't usually have it in stock. I know it's closed cell and fairly heavy but I'm not sure if it's the weight or the cell structure that makes it desirable. I can get Volora, Trocellen, Ethafoam, Crosslink and Neoprene in various thickness sheets and Ether or Ester open cell foams in almost any shape and size I care to cut.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should use?

Thanks!

Roland, check online for the STC rating (sound transmission coefficient) of each of the materials you mentioned. The higher the STC, the better.

Let us know how it all turns out. I'm thinking of doing the doors and an undercoat this summer.

Good idea. I'll have to ask to peek at the manufacturers spec sheets. That information isn't something we normally look for because all we care about is the strength and cushioning properties.

Dave. I'm pretty sure even small volumes of anything we have in stock could be had at wholesale + shipping. Special orders would be cost prohibitive because of our suppliers minimums and freight costs.
