    I've lost track
I saw a thread about first gens mounting a cb in the dash...so I thought I'd try it with mine.

First was figuring out where I wanted it.
    IMG_1076_ee05e1c84b84d1023a330daa7746ccde9644ca44.jpg

    IMG_1077_eca7a41032b70778026aca2a5e17d098539ac0ba.jpg

Next was to take out the center piece of the dash..

Gently pop out the air conditioner stuff from the bottom...Then take out four bolts holding in the dash section.

    IMG_1078_7667f02ead1c3993ca1c73619e46a180d14bb258.jpg

Pull it out carefully (has clips that should come out when pulled on lightly.

This is after taking it out and unplugging everything from the stereo and clock assembly.

    IMG_1079_5d1d94fc604e8caa01a19d10d29a0312fb2dd1cd.jpg

The black bracket holds the section in place...it will need to be removed by taking out the screw on each side (you can see where I already removed them)

    IMG_1080_3afba262e61febdec2c55f7088dd8429c7802fde.jpg

Next I measured the cb and where the cut needed to be made...

    IMG_1081_eeec6783087adf90e7058e5f257ae2ff994482ad.jpg

I taped it off and cut it with a cut off disk.

    IMG_1082_3588468268294a8f91ecf074700d682d3d648116.jpg

Here's the cut before I cleaned it up.

    IMG_1084_0df924401da8af55050569c645ed4e49831c92cf.jpg

Then I sanded it down and test fitted the cb.

    IMG_1086_742364e8bfb34a44ba25d15526dda7d9b834b646.jpg

I then cut the bracket that holds the stereo assembly in place...

    IMG_1087_d7f9b3762671e092555e7505f663426cad2f83d4.jpg

Sanded the areas around the cut...

    IMG_1088_5dca03f67da95fde021f99eacde1e89e5ae3fbd8.jpg

And applied epoxy then let dry...

    IMG_1089_09506bf1410dbd2c440d4c0f09d6cf72b5af79b3.jpg

Once it was dry I put velcro strips along the top of the cb to hold it in...

    IMG_1090_6e9c777f64f6ad9ca69b1808bab50d2cf3759f95.jpg

Now it was time to put it in the truck. Ran the cb power and ground wires through the dash to keep them hidden. (also had to switch to cell phone pictures because camera died)

    0329001228_5280ab7161c873e1221c015759d11988afe2041b.jpg

Now I put it back together until I get enough money for my antenna.

    0329001236_855b23411855d4ae74601ff16af376eefff10a2d.jpg

I'll post up what I did with the power, ground, and antenna wires when I get an antenna.

Yeah ha I'd been thinking about it for awhile but just got around to it today. its pretty easy just make sure your cb isn't too big because you do have to cut the bracket...and cutting to much could make it to weak

Hey can someone help me with grounding the antenna? I want to put it on the bedrail but its all plastic. Can I run a wire to the frame and if I do where to I attach it to on the antenna side? The mounting bracket? The antenna itself? thanks

    0417001223_9e50f291ae3fdbebc2984f6eddc5a023aba671e1.jpg

Grinded the paint off to get a good ground..

    0417001229_6624bb8e6cc791b7d30b919020344fff7d3b1c7a.jpg

    0417001245_176c761988254424c16c27e278ba64fecbdfb989.jpg

Ran the cable from Cb through a plug in the floor right next to the drivers seat...and then to the bed..

Had to move the ground to some metal in the dash because I was getting a ton of static. And took the antenna spring off because it wasn't strong enough and would swing all over the place

I like my uniden, it's plenty loud for me. But there is an external speaker port you could add a speaker to. and with the antenna...it depends what you get. Some don't need a ground plane (but I've heard they are tricky to tune), and some do (mine did so that's why I had to mount to a metal surface and grind through the paint). Also don't put it too close to the cab. Mines about six inches back and it tuned fine. Hope this helps
