Amp Challenged

Well, I've installed My JVC AHD-69 (20W RMS per channel) and a set of ID CTX65CS components in the front doors. Definite improvement over stock, mostly with the new JVC. Planning on the ID coaxials in the rear, no sub and a 4 channel amp to let the new speakers shine. Due to budget, I can only replace one component at a time. If I purchase the amp first, can I hook it up using only 2 channels to power the fronts and leave the other two channels sit until I can afford to get the rear speakers or is this a no-no. I could replace the rear speakers first, but because of the power requirements I don't expect much benefit until I amp the system. I'd like to go with the amp first to liven up the new components in the front.

 

Sure! The amp will be fine until you get your new rear speakers.

 

Yep, the amp will function just fine with only the front inputs receiving a signal.

Make sure you wire it up for future upgrades. That way you don't need to do a tear down. Just plug and play.
