Help, can't get my SWI-PS to work..

I've got everything work as it should on my Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT except the SWI-PS which I attempted to connect this evening. I believe I ran the wires correctly, I have black from the module connecting to black from the stereo wiring harness, I have red from the module connecting to black from the stereo harness. I have the White wire soldered to two other white wires, one of which has the 560 ohm resister on it, the other is fine. I wrapped this "three way connection" up with electrical tape so as to not expose it. I connected the white with the resister to the yellow/black wire from the original steering wheel controls and connected the other white to the purple/white wire. I then made a jumper out of black wire and tapped into the white/maroon(ish) wire, and then tapped that into the black ground from my radio harness.

Now the SWI-PS will come on and I can get it to version 8 which should be when it starts programming, but the lights to my steering wheel audio controls are not working and the SWI-PS is not recognizing any of my inputs.

What is the likely cause here?

Any advice is appreciated. I retraced all the connections to make sure all the taps in were secure and such.

 

Start out by checking your grounds...the unit can be really finicky if it is not grounded properly. I had to ground mine to the body in order for it to work right.

If that doesn't work I would double-check all of your connections....I noticed that you said you have the red wire from the module connecting to the black wire from the harness - I don't think that is correct. That should be going to a 12v power source wire...not the black wire which would be a ground wire.

 

Sorry, I ended up fixing the error and forgot to post an update in the post. One of my tap-ins was apparently not "tapped" in. I retraced all the lines and squeezed each of them a little harder and bingo it worked. Now all stereo & bluetooth controls are working via the SWI-PS.
