Amp problem

I am reinstalling a amp that i had in my truck for about 6 months, it has sat in my garage in a safe place for the past 2 or 3 months. My problem is when i hook everything up i get a red protect light on the amp. At first i thought it was a bad ground so i ran a ground wire and grounded it on the battery and the light was still on...im lost on things to troubleshoot, and ideas would be helpful

I had more less the same problem with that amp, took it in and got a new one

 

I think your amp is bad. Amps go into protect so they don't eat your speakers when they go kaput.

 

figured as much...its still under warranty so ill take it back in

 

Yeah typically amps go into protect mode when one of the capacitors inside of them go fault or somtimes it can a be a bad ground (or not sufficieent power wire)

Ive seen guys fry amps and wires because of wiring 8 guage power wire to a 2000 watt rms amp. haha
