After browsing & searching the audio-section for anyone who's installed/reviewed an aftermarket "factory" GPS H/U from a 4Runner, I found nothing.

I realize the dash on the 4Runner is different, but undoubtably the wiring is the same and cross compatible for steering-wheel controls.

Fitment in an aftermarket dash-kit and "known software issues" is what I'm wondering about. The specific H/U I'm refering to is this one...

    NCorollaWin_01_929f1928a0b8442ad5d637b6636bf5b1d9238c61.jpg

The sellers feedback is very good (2 neutrals in 12 months, GPS software was the only issue but seemed to be taken care of by seller). And by all accounts, this H/U would work flawlessly with the steering-wheel controls.

Any input is appreciated, but keep the negative replies civil please...

    :)

i think its an aftermarket HU thats styled to look OEM. he stated that its OE style. looks good though, not sure how you'd wire it up, it may need a different harness, idk

Toyota has used the same stereo harness plugs for the past 20+ years.

Right, but like I said does the 4Runner come with an extra plug on the harness for the Nav unit, that the Tacoma might not have...?

Or (judging from the pic of that harness) should it be totally plug-n-play for a Tacoma as well...?

It has the option for a back-up cam, wonder if it's OEM Toyota compatible..?

From the above picture the 3 white plugs plug into the existing harness. The big plug contains all the wires that power the unit that include the front speakers. The one right below that is for the rear speakers. The third white connector is for the steering wheel controls. All those are the same for every toyota and are the only things that plug in from the way the picture appears.

I bet one of these OEM GPS/DVD would look good in my 1998 Taco. I wonder if it will work with a 1998?

Is there any updates on this? OP did you end up purchasing/installing this unit? I'm looking for a double DIN dvd/nav unit as well and I'm curious about your results.

Splicing it is not a PITA, I just posted the wiring info on another thread, PM me about it. It's simple, takes about 15 minutes.
