I'm going to install some speakers in my truck but don't know which material is better for the adapters, mdf or PVC. Any insight?

PVC if you can swing it.

Mdf isn't bad, as long as it's treated. As soon as Mdf gets wet it basically shreds apart on it's own. If you seal it, it's fine.

Make sure to create a good seal between your adapter and the door skin.
