    Guys,
To keep from hi-jacking I started new thread. Looking for anyone whose replaced stock speakers but kept the stock HU. What kind did you replace with, did it make a big difference and do you like it ?

    Thanks

undercover tonneau ,bug deflector, removal of all tacoma emblems added a set of component speakers behind the rear seat egr in channel window visors
i have a regular cab and put new speakers in the doors plus i added another set behind the seats.. sounds good to me but its a small space. could probably use a little more base but overall im happy . i went to crutchfield and got 2 sets of component speakers 6and 1/2 inches. the brand is sound ordinance. i believe its their brand. may not be the best out there and i can always upgrade later. hope this helps

i got this years pioneer 6x9 and 6.5...they made a ton of difference, but i will look to replace the stock HU shortly..i have all new speakers and subs,so the HU is the last to go.

It's a bad ground. if you hear a whine that gets louder, you have a dirty ground. If it's static distortion when the volume is at 0 then your speakers amp are junk.

I had speakers on a stock head unit, the quality was much better than the paper stock speaker.

Replaced my stock speakers with 6x9 Planet Audio 3 way up front and 6 1/2 MTX Audio 2 way in the back. I'm not an audiophile, but it made a huge difference IMHO.

    FWIW...

Looking to do the same with my fronts only. Want to replace with 6x9s and component tweeters (replacing stock). Will keep rear ceiling speakers and factory sub. I read that one way to really help it along is to also add an amp to drive the new speakers ... so feed the stock HU signal to the amp, and then amp to speakers.
