I did a search but find mostly 2005-2011 model. Are there any units with the mount kit that looks good for 2012 (not JBL model)?

Don't care for those knockoff ebay stuff. My coworker has one for his FJ. He never admits it is crap but I know it is ...He got it in a place in Ontario, CA. We have been there many times during lunch to get issues fix.

Yes, please see pics in my profile. The dash kit is 05-11, but the HU is amazing. Will get new dash kit when it comes out in May.

Is this the metra kit? The stock headunit (wiring) is not tied to the rear camera (rear view mirror)?

No its actually a Scosche kit (didn't want the textured Metra kit), I was informed on here by a thread that Scosche will have a 2012 kit out in May that will match contours better, and be black in color. You can tie the HU to the rear camera, but I have the rear camera in the mirror, so I did not wire the camera into the HU. I can be done fairly easily, but I chose not to go this route.

I am not looking to touch the backup camera. That is why I ask just to make sure its not interfered with it.

Yeah no it doesn't have to touch it at all. I was not looking for extra work, and though since I had it already in the mirror I chose not to. So the short answer is no, it doesn't. Only if you want it to.
