For a couple of months I've been trying to find a car monitor that allows you to hook up your cell phone and mirror it. Example using the nav, web browersing, watching netflix, from your phone and displaying on the monitor. I later found out that technology does existence, BUT it only works with Samsung Galaxy S3 phones, because Samsung only allows the app for that phone; why I don't know. Seeing how I don't own one, there was nothing I could do.

But I didn't give up, today I got a magazine from cruthfield and it had exactly what i was looking for.

    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130SPDA100/Pioneer-SPH-DA100-AppRadio-2.html#overview-tab

This has the smiliar features as the mirror link. Without a smart phone this monitor does not have nav capability nor does not have a cd/dvd player or have HD radio. So without your smart phone this thing is pretty much useless.

It does have a FM/AM radio and a nice clock display.

My birthday is just around the corner and I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger and getting this. If anyone has more info or if anyone knows of another monitor that allows me to hook up my phone and "mirror" it that would be awesome. :spy:

*editing* If you buy the monitor from cruthfield they do offer the android adapter for free, which is a plus considering its $100

not to rain on your parade or anything, but buying that stereo will be a hit or miss I have heard nothing but BAD reviews for it. some of the things ive heard have been that the updates are useless the bluetooth hands free feature is anything but hands free, every time you start the vehicle you have to acknowledge the system to allow it to start. i actually read some of the reviews for that system on a few different sites, and 6 out of 7 reviews were bad...

if you really want that system by all means take the risk and buy it but be aware of running into frustrating problems

Well the bluetooth is no problem, I've never really used it, even when I had it on my Tundra. But a friend of mine sent me some video reviews of people using it, I'm gonna take a look. It's still up in the air if I'll buy this.

I've been looking at the Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS. Different animal but with alot of features. Good reviews as well.

These have MirrorLink, and ONLY the galaxy S3 is allowed to use that. Like I said in the post.

I'm know Alpine makes one, but these have MirrorLink capability that can be used with the S3

Is there anything out there that allows the map function (google maps app) on the iphone 5 and bluetooth? Those are really the only two things I want, and nothing seems to have it.

I had their 2012 AVIC-Z140BH which is their flagship Nav unit with AppRadio 2 part of it.

I have to say I wasn't impressed. Sure I could launch Waze on my iPhone and it appears on the Nav unit. But overall honestly i wasn't impressed. My opinion it has more revisions before its viable.

^id agree with that. I like mine now that I've hacked the device attached to it, but I think this is something that down the line will be waaaay cooler.

For any iPhone 5 user who has a Pioneer headunit that supports this.

95% of the time when I used my AVIC-Z140BH I used bluetooth audio and controlled Pandora from my iPhone. I didnt bother connecting even my iPhone 4 directly often. It was cumbersome.

I wont dog on this anymore after this thread. I dont want to continue to be Mr. Negativity.

So, you can't connect to this through bluetooth and control pandora or any audio stored on your phone?

the way most bluetooth headunits work (from my knowledge) that support a2dp is that you can get album artwork (some), artist, album, song (all that info), and can perform next/back/etc. functions.

in order to control pandora as far as a thumbs up/down, select a station, etc. would likely require you to have some specific software installed on your phone that works with the headunit (I believe this is how the Toyota Entune software does it). But with Pioneer the "appRadio" application for your iPhone doenst come in to play unless you plug the phone in.

So using BT, you can see the song, artist, album, hit next/back, but that was it (for me at least on the Z140BH).
