Looking to upgrade from the stock speakers and add an amp. First I must say that I am not looking to shake the windows or drive my neighbors nuts(not a bad idea though) but I am more looking for a deeper, better sound. I went to the install guys here in Corpus Christi and was pointed towards this set up:
amp Alpine PDX-F4 $499 at crutchfield, $309 on Amazon
speakers Alpine SPR-50C $299 at crutchfield, $154.60 on Amazon

Installation is $125 for the amp and $45 for each pair of speakers($90 for front and back)

Looking for thoughts and opinions on this. Also, Honestly I wish I could do this myself but I have no clue at all. Any TW members here in CC want to teach a complete noob I have beer and pizza. Thanks
Next project- 3 inch lift, tires, rims, bumpers, and maybe some of those fucking bright ass lights.

I do not have personal experience with either but by specs it looks good, especially that amp. I would STRONGLY go with 6.5" speakers though rather than the 5.25. If you wanted to stick with Alpine I would say that the 60 series R speakers would be a much much much better choice although I have never heard any Alpine myself. The 60 speakers are componets rather than coaxle so that is a huge differnce to the sound. In case you don't know componets have the tweeter seperate from the mid range. That being said I would try to listen to some speakers first then decide. Speaker sound is a lot like wine so take others advise with a grain of salt so to speak.

Yes get a 6.5 speaker and Alpine is a great 'bang for your buck' product. PDX amps are awesome as well.

Is it hard to make the 6.5 fit? Should any stereo guy be able to install that?

Nope.. Get adapters from *********, make your own, or talk to Mr. Marv on here. Both my fronts/rears are 6.5's.

    +1

I personally (with zero experience) made my own with a 1972 ish vintage sears brand scroll saw and some mdf. I was just too anxious to wait on shipped ones. And too poor. I'm a zip tie mechanic.

CAlled this morning to order the 6.5's and have been pm'ing Marv. Sonicelectronix is out of the amp and advised some brand I have never heard of NVX JAD800.4. Offered the package for $494.90 out the door.

    Alpine SPR-60C $154.95
    Alpine SPR-60 $139.95
    NVX JAD800.4 $200.00

    Any opinions on this amp?
