Tweeter question factory vs JBL
Ok guys, first post so don't flame me. I recently purchased a 2010 Taco and needed some more sound out of the factory stereo system. I ordered a Pioneer double din 5500 and some kicker 6x9's fronts and 6.5 for rear, Tacotune mounts. Now my question is this, i plan on leaving the factory tweeter (mini midrange) hooked up....would it be better to buy a pair of factory JBL tweeters? i noticed a few on ebay and didn't know if they would be a direct plug and play. Would a crossover be needed for this JBL tweeter? i know that stock tweeter has one wired in, would the jbl have this also?

Again, first post so don't kill me.....lol.

would running the tweeter at full range blow it?

You need some sort of crossover on a tweeter or you will destroy it. I'd suggest getting rid of the 6x9 fronts as 6x9's suck for sound anyways, then get a 6.5 component set that comes with a crossover and tweeter.

Otherwise find an aftermarket tweeter that has an inline crossover like this:
