Improving the signal strength from my antenna...how?

My 2009 has terrible signal strength. The strongest radio station in town is usually fuzzy.

Is there any way to improve this? I have the stock 09 (non-JBL) radio.

Can I make a big aluminum foil ball and stick it on top of the antenna? It worked great in 1987 when I did it to my 'boombox'

 

I like the idea of the aluminum foil!!! Also the antenna is not loose is it?

 

I can pick up space shuttle communications with mine. Have the dealer look at it.

 

A metal clothes hanger gets purty good signal, may just be the hillbillie in me though. And to attach be sure to use some good duct tape.

Also change out the stock exhaust tip with a Bud can!

 

Bump for any additional ideas. I am still getting a weak signal in my 09. The dealership told me they hear that alot.

It is the non-JBL radio. Anyone try any aftermarket products? Is there an aftermarket antenna replacement that would receive a better signal?

My 08 gets pretty weak reception too.

 

I'd suggest checking the connection behind the HU. The stock wire can be stretched pretty tight, so it could possibly come loose.

 

I noticed about a week after I bought my truck that the antenna was a little loose. As far as reception goes though I have picked up radio stations from Tuscon. It has way better reception than my car did.

 

You might want to try this out...sounds like it helped his reception considerably
