gotta first know what speakers you have to determine what the rms is. then you can look at amps to properly power them.

Name brand headunit like Kenwood should run them just fine. Likely at least 20w/ch in the Kenwood.
I'd put the $ into a sub. There's a couple nice powered subs in the $300 USD range - eg Infinity BaseLink and BaseLink-II. Couple other brands too. Could also go to a separate amp and box for the sub. Better bass, but about double the price to start. So many brands to choose. 200w is a good place to start, and 10" driver.

To answer your question, any name brand 4 channel amp will work really well. You must have a local shop or 2. Est. $200 and up for a 4 channel.
Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer, US Amps, so many more. If the head unit has RCA line outs, that's the way to go... otherwise you'll want to check the amp you are interested in has speaker level inputs. About the only thing I can think of that's important in cloosing an amp.

I can't let the wife know
One thing that most people mess up is not looking into the ohms of the speaker.Example If your radio puts out 20w per channel at 4 ohms and your speaker is 8ohms each. eventually You will burn out this channel of the radio. I seen it happen many times.
