In my 93 Xtracab Toyota pickup (4x4 V6, 5 speed) which I sold last Summer (I own a 2007 Double Cab 4x4 V6 right now) I used to have 2 JL Audio 6w0's powered by a JL Audio 200 watt 1 channel amp. I had them in a downfiring box on the floor behind the rear seat. It was an interesting set up, it sounded like one really tight 10" sub only it was a little more manageable to install them both.

Anyways, unlike most of you guys, I am fairly happy with my stock system but it does lack a little bit of bass. I mean for a stock system it sounds pretty good, but a little bit of bass would really round off the sound good. So I see JL Audio has some new 6" subs out, the 6w3's. I'm curious if any of you guys have any experience wit h these? I figure if I got one of these, or an 8w0 or 8w3 it would add a little bit more low end to the system and not take up a huge amount of space behind the rear seat. Just enough to give a more well rounded sound if you get what I'm saying with a 1 channel 200-300 watt JL Audio Amp (just b/c I like JL Audio and I'm partial to keeping the brand names the same). I don't have the stock JBL system, just the stock system with the 6 disc changer.

Anyways, any of you guys hear these subs from JL audio? Also anyone else out there partial to the small subs like I am?

Digital Designs also make a 6" sub that POUNDS, and the price i'm sure is a little less than JL. I am going with the memphis slim class 10 in a fiberglass box behind the back seat.

I believe that DD driver is actually a midbass. I've seen them used as subs though.

I'm using the Tang Band 6.5" sub in my truck. Almost done with my setup.

I used to have a Bazooka 8" Tube that had the built in Amp with it, and it put out a lot of bass...A lot more than you think. Good setup if you are on a budget and dont want to take up a lot of space

I just purchased a new JL 8w3 last night. I will be powering it with an Alpine PDX-5(300 or so watts on the 5th channel). Gonna build a box this weekend and I will report back next week on how it worked out

I would try to fit a 10" if I were you.

Not interested in a 10, personally. I don't want to have to make modifications to make things fit or accomodate things either, not that all 10s require it, but this is why I have started this thread about 6-8" subs.

Well, I built a nice small box with some extra MDF I had laying around. Outside dimensions were 12x10x8. I wanted something that small so I could just throw a shirt over it to avert the wandering eyes.

Although I am breaking it in easy and haven't really put it through it's paces yet, I am VERY happy with the way it rounds out the sound of my system. Not booming base as my old 10's and 12's did, but I really wasn't looking for that - maybe I am getting old :)

Hey any of you guys heard the Kicker 6.5" and 8" offerings? They have a redesigned 6.5" out recently which is model (grey woofer): CVT654 (4 ohm, 6.5" sub). It has a fairly shallow mount as well compared to the JL Audio 6w0 and 6w3's.

i just threw a polk MM840 into one of those slim single cab boxes w/ 0.35ft^3 airspace and it sounds great in my ext cab w/ front components only. im running it at 4 ohms and i think 250W.
