WHat do you recommend for protecting the finish, especially on the step rails, because someone will actually step on them!

Is there some other option like a sealer, because wax will make it slippery. I was thinking more like some type of a rubber boot around the steps?

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
If it ain't sealed, it'll rust under a boot.
