Yep. About 20 psi extra on the driver's side seems to do they trick.

Lowered my psi quite a bit. Just burped it so I'm not certain of the psi but I'm perfectly level now (was about 1 1/4" high on passenger side) and MAN has my ride improved! Feel like I'm just now realizing the full potential.

:spy: just thought I'd sub to this thread for ideas of future suspension modifications.

    Mike,

I'm doing the exact same thing and very intrigued with this setup. I'm in the process now of doing all my suspension research and pretty much had it narrowed to a mid travel ICON setup on all four corners. Then I came across this thread...hmmmm

They look badass haha. Eventually I want to get new UCAs and struts I just don't know when. Probably when my OME stuff craps out. If it ever does. I love the way my truck rides with them now so I can't imagine what the ORIs would do.

Did you all just bolt in the ORI strut, put wheels back on, resting on the bumps then fill them? The ORI manual says not to fill or vent with shaft extended but I'm assuming by extended they mean "charged"? Because of how the struts are mounted the shaft gets pulled down even with no charge.

Does any of this make sense? I'm running in fumes right now.

Yes. There is a video of Jerry doing it somewhere. Probably in this thread if you look back but the truck will definitely be resting on the bumps and will rise as you add nitrogen.

Yeah I just fill the shock bolted in. I imagine that since the shocm can't fully compress on our rigs when bolted in that when you set it at 90psi you don't get a true 90 psi. You are actually getting more than 90 psi since extending the shaft compresses the lower chamber. But it's all variable anyway and I haven't noticed any huge differences in varying the lower pressure from 90 to 120 other than needing more pressure up top to get the same ride height.

Rgr. Thanks. I was just double checking since there are warnings and cautions about filling the lowers with the shaft extended.

The shaft will actually suck itself up into the strut when filling the lower. Is what you don't want to do is adjust the lowers with pressure in the upper. When you have 700 psi in the upper the 90 psi you put in the lower just turned into 1000+... that is what all the warnings are about.

I finally got everthing I needed to and installed. I spent this past weekend installing all sorts of crap on my truck. It seemed as if it was one thing after another that kept coming up and slowing down the progress but it finally got done. Like others, I had to trim part of the top coil bucket to fit the BAMF kit. I still need to weld on the reservoir mounts and find the final settings for the struts. Thanks to all those that helped me out.

I have yet to take them for a spin. The rear still needs to be worked on quite a bit to remove old shock towers and axle shock mounts. Once everything is together I can start tinkering with the settings.

A question for everyone with ORI's, when the ride height is set to high giving you minimal down travel, do you feel a harsh clunk at full drop? I've since dropped them down to about 6 1/4-1/2 of shaft showing which nearly eliminates the full drop clunk but every now and then over rough terrain it has that loud and harsh clunk.

So have others experienced this? And to those running limit straps, does that help eliminate or minimize that clunking sound? I assume those with limit straps also run some sort of top plate spacer to ride more towards the middle of the shaft and off the 2" bump at the limit.

Yep. Both n0rth and I experienced that. We decided it must just be the sound of the internal bump that stops the shocks at full extension.

I would assume the limit straps are quieter but I haven't got my front ones on yet and haven't field tested my rears yet so :notsure:

Okay. I was worried I didn't do something right but I torqued everything down then re-torqued again after about 150 miles. It still made that nasty sound until I dropped it down some to allow more down travel. It still occurs every now and then and it makes me cringe. Can you please post your results after getting the front strapped in and it helps reducing that clunk?

    Thanks for your response Brady.

I have the same issue but I mainly do high speed stuff through the desert so I need the up travel more than the down travel. If I go over a speed bump at normal speed I get the clunk and it annoys the shit out of me. I have since started to accelerate over the speed bumps and it must compress the strut to a point where it doesn't bottom out. When I'm wheeling it doesn't seem to be an issue as I'm compressing the shit out of the struts. Also I have mine set pretty high and I still tear the shit out of my fender flares. I would lower them a bit but I think I would just rip the flares completely off. I want to play with the rebound compression dial that is on the side of the strut and/or change the internals a bit but I have been busy and haven't had a chance to do so. I think the bottom line is that these struts are killer and can do whatever but they are very vehicle particular depending on the weight and the preferred style of wheeling.
