1st Gen 4x4 / Prerunner Carrier Bearing Drop Bracket

Designed to eliminate drive line vibrations commonly found on trucks with 2 piece drive shafts. Two options are available, one that drops the carrier bearing down 1.5" for trucks that are lifted 3" or less in the rear, and one that drops the bearing 2" for trucks at 4" and above in back. Pictured is the 1.5".

These also utilize a factory hole in the cross member that allows the bracket to bolt into and becomes a 3rd attachment point for the carrier bearing which will also help to eliminate unwanted flex in this area. These are available on my website streetacos.com with easy PayPal checkout, or can be done through PM. This should bring up all the brackets that are offered for the 1st gen Taco, the 2nd gen Taco, and also the Tundra.

This is a affordable option that works as claimed and comes much cheaper than a new 1 piece drive shaft.

that's great beefed taco. i've read a lot on these drop brackets. some people had got them and they still had issues with the vibe. but i saw where people with 1st gens got yours and they never complained of it again. at the time, you didn't have a 2nd gen one. so i decided to wait on it. i had no idea that you already had it. so i will be ordering one sometime soon. and yes, you should get the word out about these on here because most people don't know, i didn't. and they are getting the cheap, crappy ones. but either way, something told me to wait, so i did, and i am hoping this will be my solution.

I think it's fate

I just lifted my truck took it out and I have vibes from 60mph up.I get home log on to TW and I see this thread.

I think I need the drop the Carrier bearing what do you think?

And if I do need one what's the price for the first gens and how do I get one.

Seriously? I lifted my dcab 4 yrs ago & never noticed any vibes at any speed or RPM than when it was stock. I ordered one of these anyways after seeing Matt's to help straighten out the driveshaft. Looks very well built. That and just an excuse to finally be able to get something from Brian.

Yeah I'm getting vibes above 60 I still have to get an alignment so maybe that will help a little.

Got mine last week. Painted it & threw it on a couple days ago. Can't believe how perfect it fit, couldn't be happier. Nice that you made use of that center hole for more support.

Now I need chop my BPV arm off & install that BPV bracket.

i am very interested in this bracket as i have developed vibes and i believe it to be the driveshaft. The only thing is, that i only have about 2 inches of lift in the front and none in the rear, so i'm wondering whether this would even work, or if it would just drop it too low then?

just got my bracket in today, but how much did the little wing nut that screws onto the bottom of the middle support bolt go on for you? The little nut on mine only screws until the head of it hits the end of the bolt (about 1/4"), did yours go on more or is it made that way so it will just fit?

If you have vibes even without the lift, put it on now and watch them magically vanish. Even though it may appear to drop the shaft a bit too much in that area without the lift, this is the spot that's been getting rid of the vibrations...even in stock form. Throw it on, see what the outcome is, and report back with your findings. I'm that confident this will help your truck drive smoother.

Brian, i haven't put my bracket on yet, but how much is the little wing nut supposed to screw onto the center support bolt? It seems like it only goes on about 1/4" until the head of the bolt becomes flush with the top of the nut, is it only supposed to go on that far as a perfect fit? or is mine not going on far enough?

Also, are the bolts provided built to reuse the stock nuts on the sides of the CB?

I'm not using a wingnut. I'm using the nylock nut that came with it as pictured. I can't quite picture what you are saying but my nut screws on far enough where the bolt passes through the nylock part of the nut. The bolt my not be sticking out very far from the edge of the nut but that's not necessary since the nut is a nylock nut. If the bolt was longer you wouldn't be able to get it through the hole from the top. Brian thought everything through on this one.

Do you have a pic showing what you are concerned about?

I'm confused, if you have not tried installing the bracket, what is leading you to believe the middle bolt is not long enough? Do you actually have a wing nut or do you have a nylock nut like in the pictures? The end of the nut should have plastic, to get the bolt to thread into this part you will have to use tools. You will not be able to thread it by hand. The plastic is designed to prevent the nut from loosening from vibration, etc.

The two large bolts & nuts that come with the kit are used to bolt the stock carrier mount to the drop bracket. You will need to use the two stock bolts to bolt the drop bracket to the crossmember. The single smaller long bolt & nut is used to bolt the drop bracket to the cross member in the center. Stock there is no bolt used there but there just happens to be a hole in the crossmember that Brian made very good use of.
