In a catfish tourney this weekend... Any tips?

LMAO... Thats why I didnt even want to say. The body might work real well... I'll just smear it with some 10w-30 first im thinking though. lol

My nabor used to ask his local acme store to save all the left overs from there meat department he would grind that up.

 

Chicken and beef livers salted and we have some crazy jumbo clams. I have some frozen into a block and a ton just in the fridge.

 

That's funny you said 10w-30 cause I keep hearing WD-40 brings em in.

Thats weird I was at the store the other day smelling these fish attractants they had and all of them smelled like plastic or WD-40. I was convinced they were total BS. They might work after all... Or they're still total BS lol.

I use double hooks, with chicken livers on one and bread on the other. works every time in the local ponds around here.

 

I bet a corn laced duece would work.
They have those acorn cakes for deer after all and they work great!!

Smelly bait number one rule for catfishin. At least for me it is.

 

I love using large sized shrimp myself. I like to purchase them at store a couple of days ahead of time and let them sit outside until I go fishing....

 

I hear noodling is all the rage these days

i did watch that documentary on it years ago, beers to the guys that can do it for sure!

 

Lets just say we did not win... LOL. We did alright though. Caught fish all day but no real lunkers. One team came back with 3 fish between 12 and 15 lbs a piece. That kinda buried us. Had good weather and plenty of cold beers so we all won in my book... lol


They seemed to really hit the clams I had shucked and cut. And salted beef livers work well too.

 

I catfish pretty regularly and have always had good luck with cut bait. I use menhaden because they are oily and stink bad but shad works also.
