I bought this boat last August and I dont really know much about it other then it is a 9.9 Mercury outboard. The thing about the motor is the choke that controls the throttle is a piece of sh*t plastic piece and it was cracked... now it is broke off and I can't adjust the choke when starting it.

The serial number on it is 0d002941 I checked a few sites and think I found what I am looking for but like I said I dont know what I am doing.

I found this diagram and part #32 is the part that I broke. Should I get that part is my question?.

Here is a picture of my motor if that helps:

steve, see if you can find a number that starts with 0d28. i looked at all the 9.9 merc and didn't see anything at all that starts with 0d00. i have a 2003 merc and the tag is on the swivel bracket, thats the part that attaches to your boat and the motor hangs off that.hth

Not too sure if it is considered the controller. I just think it is the choke knob.

on my 9.9 kicker, that choke knob is pulled out for full choke and all the way in for no choke. mine is a 2003. if you have anything you could get in there and clamp on it. you could use that in a pinch, if you need that motor running now. you might get some hemostats or some small longnose visegrips. i only use my choke for a few mins on a cold motor, after it warms up. you won't even need it all.

I can't tell from the picture is the throttle on the motor or if it has a controller by the stearing wheel. If you can take a picture of where it's broken, I might have some used parts for a merc laying around or might be able to point you in the right direction. I also have a friend that rents pontoon boats and he runs those 9.9 on them.

If you click the "part 32" in the OP then you will see the part I am talking about... Thanks for helping me out so far on this guys. I am pretty new and clueless about this.

I can get some actual pictures when I get off work tomorrow.

a great forum for boat stuff is iboats it gets alot of traffic youd probably be better off and quicker putting something on there but part 32 does look like what you would need.

part 32 is a choke for sure, do you still have the part that broke off. if so post a pic. i goggled your serial number and nothing comes up. i goggled mine and it said it was a 50hp. which its not, its a 9.9. you might have to take it to a local marine shop and have them order that right part. its not that expensive of a part. its under 10.00 bucks.
