Always wear Sunglasses when fishing

I got these pictures from an Email thread, had to share them.. I will always be wearing glasses when fishing on a boat from this point forward.

damn wonder what happened to the eye? did he loose it, or blind?

I had something similar happen to me when I was younger, but luckily the hook just caught me in the ear

I keep thinking if his Buddy had tried to Cast even though he screamed, it could have pulled his Eyeball out.. Ick!

One of my best friends older bro and his dad were fishing. Dad was using a crank bait and tried to set the hook and the lure came flying back up into the boat hit this guy in the eye from the way it sounds it was about like this picture. Had to go to the hospital and from what I remember he had to have a pupil transplant with a donated pupil.

It was pretty bad.

That definately changes the saying that 'A bad day fishing is better than any good day at work'.

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

more than likely, if his buddy would have tried to go ahead and cast, the hook would have been ripped out of the eye. the optice nerve is fairly substantial and it would have been hard to yank the eye out.

from the pictures, it looks as though it only compromised the anterior, or forward, chamber of the eye. he should do well, but will probably develop a cataract at an early age because of the traumatic injury. even if it did puncture the rearward chamber of the eye, as long as he didn't lose too much of the fluid from it, he could do ok.
