05TacoTRD's Build

On 12/27/07 I purchased my Taco. After two years of looking for one that suited my needs and coming very close to buying a double cab a month and half ago, I pulled the trigger on this truck.

2005 Toyota Tacoma V6
Prerunner - TRD Off Road
Access Cab

When I got it it only had 28,470 on the clock.

These pics are at the dealer the day I bought it. I had already been on TTORA so I had an idea of what I was getting into.

The truck remained in that state for roughly a month until I had been around Toyota Nation for awhile and heard about the suspension TSB. The minute I heard about it I called Toyota and scheduled to get the TSB done. At that time I had plans of more than likely building more or less of a mall wheeler with a 6" lift, 18" Moto Metal 951s and some 35"s. I also ordered a bull bar.

Here's some pics after the TSB and bull bar. The TSB leafs gave me about 2" lift at first, but have since settled to a little under 1.5".

No flex at all right there, thats how much lift I used to have from the new leafs.

A little while passed after getting the bullbar and I took my truck wheeling for the first time. After that I knew that bling mods where a waste of my time and I wanted to build a truck with a purpose.

I got bored one day and decided to do the hose clamp mod (prevent tailgate theft) and to pull the mud flaps. Thank God I did, because it made a world of difference.

A few months passed and nothing worth posting happened to my truck. Wheeled it a few times, took to the beach, no big changes. Until I finally bent my WEAK tailgate.

Took it to Toyota and had them get me a new, reinforced tailgate. They also let me keep my old tailgate which is taking up residence in my garage (anybody wanna buy it?).

After this I started back at school and have had some stuf going on that has kept me from doing the real mods I got planned. I figure I got maybe 5K miles left in the Rugged Trails before they are gone. At that point in time I will get my new tires and lift.

A few random pics of my truck taking me out to go fishing and stuff.

Here's my truck as it currently sits. Well, kinda. It's currently got a nice coat of mud on it from all the rain We've been getting.

I've wheeled it a few times but am usually alone so I don't have any pics that are worth posting. If anybody in the Jax/St. Aug area wants to wheel sometime, hit me up in a PM.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Around Christmas time is when the transformation should really start. Getting the lift+tires around that time as well as a CB and a few other little things. I can't wait.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I bought it from my Toyota dealer.
