Silverbacks Tacoma Evolution

So now that I have "power" in the toolbox it got me thinking, what can I use this for. So I bought some little 3 LED puck lights from Superbright LED's, a small NC pin switch and a fuse holder (still waiting on 6 gang Blue Seas). An hour later I had lights inside the toolbox that come on when I open the lid. I'll eventually put in an override switch to allow me to keep them off if I want. The lights are tucked up underneath the lip so they should be ok and not get beat up too bad. But they are plenty bright, the pic in the dark sucks.. I'm no photog whatsoever.

good job man!!! i have the puck lights mounted in mine too.....but im way too lazy to hook mine up like you did yours!!

Dude, love the truck! Where do you go offroading around Austin? I just moved to Minnesota back in March, but lived in Austin (near Lake Travis on 620) for 10 years. I miss it so much.

I just traded in my '06 PreRunner for an '09 TRD Off Road 4x4 (got to keep my Texas plates). And since I just found this site last week, I can't wait to do 75% of the mods on see here! First mod - put on my longhorn I just ordered to replace the one that went with my '06...it will be here tomorrow!

Thanks! Well there are a few places within an hour of here. More if I want to drive a bit. But Boulder Creek (near Marble Falls), Long Ranch (Llano) and TireTrax near Rockdale are within an hour of the house. All offer something a little different.

Excellent choice for a first mod as well!

It was under 4 bucks at Radio Crack for a NC switch. Just drilled ??11/32?? hole to put it in.. some black RTV to seal it all. Go for it man... I'll shoot you part numbers.

part numbers and a write up maybe....that'll help big time if you dont mind doing it man. not exactly sure how you wired it so a tutorial would be cool. i'd like to have mine done like your brotha!

Since its getting darker earlier I decided to start on some rock lights, something to allow a spotter to see the tires and terrain under the truck. Hopefully it will all be completed by next weekend, but for now its just the fronts.

I started with some AutoZone specials. On sale for under $20. Figure they might not last too long so I didn't to invest too much until I can determine if they will survive.

But they are tucked up behind the bumper so "hopefully" nothing will catch them. We'll see. I'll probably aim them out a bit further, I need to take it out at night and mess with it some more.

I wanted to do this also, But I was thinkin they would get coverd in mud, Looks good eather way tho

Thanks! I'm not too worried about mud right now.. I'm never going in that crap again

But really, they are meant to be used on rocks and places where a spotter needs to see your tires and the ground below/around them.

There will be more lights by the weekend. Enough to make it look like a low flying UFO

I've got 6 of these on order http://www.oznium.com/marine-led-light and another set of halogen fog lights for the back. The 6 LED's will go down the sides (3 each, up under the body... as high as I can get them). One factory fog light switch inside will turn them all on and off through a 40 amp relay. I also have a set of low profile fogs for backup lights, they only come on when I put it in reverse. Which is cool. Although something is up with them and I need to see why they stopped working. My guess is a rock hit them and broke the bulbs.

I've still got that crap underneath mine from 2 months ago's wheeling. Doing these lights/dual battery setup/on board air and I've been running wires front to back a lot lately, it sucks! Dirt and sand just fall into my face as I pull wires and split loom across the top of the frame rails. I think I still have grit in my teeth.

What is that? I used an oscillating lawn sprinkler to get rid of most the crap... doesn't work so hot on the tops of the frame rails... and my AllPro t-case skid has about an inch of sand/dirt in it still. It just holds it all in.

Lawn sprinkler, Thats not a bad idea I got a full body rain coat and parked the truck on some ramps and went at it with a hose

, Not the best thing to do but it worked till I hit the trails again.
