W8N4MUD's build

Updated last on 11/07/09 - After market rock dent on passenger side step.
Albert + Tacoma = W8N4MUD
2006 Toyota Tacoma Sport DC SB
Purchased in Dec of 05.
Tell me what you think of my build so far. Thanks.
Side View

47 is the atomic number for silver in case you were wondering.
Rear View

Front View

MB V-Drive Rims w/ 265/70/R17 BFG's
These rims are "Hub-Centric" and can be purchased at Discount Tire.

Moto Metels
The below picture is what was on before. I liked the chrome a lot, even when the truck was dirty. I had too many issues with balancing, maybe out-of-round, shaking of the steering wheel and so on.

Added OEM side steps

Added an aftermarket rock dent on the passenger side step
I wasn't asking for it! It was a free add on compliments of the trail we were on. So I took it like a man & cried when I got home.

Added OEM Factory Roof Rack

Inno Bike Carrier

2008 Trek Fuel EX8
My $2200 ride. By far the best bike I've ever owned. Still going strong with little maintenance. Reminds me of my Toyota Tacoma.

April of 2009 "24 Hours of Adrenalin" event
This event is held East of Temecula in the high mountains of Riverside, CA. Thank you FedEx Ground for sponsoring my 2-man team.

Rhino 3' Rear Hitch Step
This thing (less than $100) has saved my bumper at least 3 times. It's been tapped that many times. In fact, if you look closely, you can see some white paint on the right side. I definitely would invest in one of these. It's a Rhino rear 3' step. They sell chrome too if you're into that.

SmittyBilt Tow Strap
In the event I need to get pulled out, I purchased this strap for $30.

Haul Master Tow Hook

Extang Bed Cover
http://extang.com/docs/tufftonno.html
I don't have this anymore, but I loved it so much I still want to give it props. My roll-up extang cover was IMO the best of them out there. When I needed the space, I simply rolled it up. I didn't want to take off a hard tonneau cover when we unexpectedly made a purchase that required using the bed. Going home to only come back to the store was ridiculous. For the record, this cover was a zip lock style and not the button style. It cleans easy and has tie downs when rolled up.

Added TRD emblems

Uniden 520PRO XL
It's a great way to communicate with one another on a trail run.

PA Speaker
You can't have a CB and not have a PA. Its a lot of fun to use when ordering food thru a drive thru, whistling at eye candy or telling people that their rear brake lights don't work.

CB Antenna Mount
I painted the mount black and removed one set of washers in order to fit another style bolt/nut which now faces the other direction.
Result = A much cleaner look. Hopefully it will be just as sturdy.

Heavy Duty Antenna Spring

4' Firestick Antenna

Thank you Line-X in National City!
Alright so forget about using that spray on the skid plate! It's probably really good for other stuff but not for that. After a few weeks of driving, many nicks started to appear and the silver started showing again.
Edrin55 and his new 2010 PreRunner sport went to Line-X in National City (in San Diego) to get his brand new skid plate Line-X'd! The service was awesome and the price was reasonable. So after seeing his done, we immediately went to my house, took the skid plate off and returned to Line-X for the same treatment. All I can say is that I LOVE IT! It looks good and feels great. Thank you to Dallas at Line-X. For those of you in San Diego, their address is: 2704 Transportation Ave ste A & B, National City, CA 91950. (619) 477-1796. www.line-xsandiego.com.

Front Bumper Valence Line-X'd

Added the Grillcraft Grill

Added a Toyota Emblem on the Grillcraft.
TAPE IT OFF & WITH A DREMEL, REMOVE THE SNAPS ON THE BACK.

MARK ITS LOCATION ON THE GRILL & DRILL TWO HOLES FROM THE REAR.

PRIME IT & THEN PAINT IT THE COLOR OF YOUR CHOICE. COLOR KEYED TO MATCH THE SILVER.

Painted Hood Scoop

Picture of painted Hood Scoop, Toyota Emblem, Grillcraft & Line-X'd Bumper Valence.

Painted Behind Grill
I spray painted behind the grill to hide the radiator brackets and the silver sheet metal. I tried making it look as professional as possible.

Horns Relocated
So I did not want the horns visible through the grillcraft. I lowered them behind the front bumper and used the two existing screws to remount. There is enough wire to do that. You just need to undo some of the clips.

Blacked Out Vents
I had swapped out the side vents to black from the original silver. I like the silver theme down the middle.

Blacked Out Cup Holders

TRD Seat Covers
They are not Sport or Off-Road specific. A simple TRD! Be warned... the cover gets hot and if you're shirtless then you might start to sweat. I would recommend the Wet Okole Brand, but not sure about the fitment.

Wet Okole Armrests
Self-installed with fabric from the Wet Okole Factory, these bad boys look & feel real nice.
Installation takes about an hour a door. Sucks for those with a Crew Cab.

iPod Connection to OEM Stereo
Here's is the iPod connection I have. I'm using the factory stereo with a harness in the back of the unit which allows my iPod to play. It doesn't charge! I've got the JBL 6-Disc CD player. I know for a fact that the harness uses the 6th slot of the CD to play from the iPod.

Bilstein 5100's

Front Installed

Back Installed

Painted the wheel well
Those in dark colored trucks are a little luckier when it comes to this look. The unfinished, matte-looking areas of the front wheel wells were annoying me. So I cleaned it up even nicer and sprayed it all black. Not too bad if I say so myself.

Removal of Mud Flaps
MUD FLAPS!!! Had I known they were going to leave an imprint, I would have taken them off from the get go! This sucks. I think having them off makes the truck look higher. Plus, the MUD gets on the truck easier. Therefore, it doesn't always look like I'm waiting for mud.

Front Window Tint
I do have the front windows tinited a little bit even though they look darker in the picture. Tint in California in the front is illegal, but still had it done. I believe it was a 15% tint that was put on at PG Series in El Cajon, CA (Secondary Vendor there, not the actual business).

Custom Engine Cover
In my opinion, this turned out better than I thought.

I know its dirty. I'll get it cleaned eventually. For now, it is what it is.

Cabin Air Filter Replacement

K&N Air Filter

Exhaust Tip

Fog Light Mod
I visited TW member Unholycumulus on Sun for a fog light mod. Done in minutes and exactly the way I wanted, Jeff hooked me up. Props to him and his work. Fog lights automatically turn off with ignition and stay on when the high beams are activated. Hit him up if you need assistance.

New L.E.D. Taillights
I got a hook up when it came time to swapping out my 06 taillights for a pair of 09 Chrome LED Taillights at no cost to me. Edrin55 traded in his 09 Tacoma 4x2 for a 2010 PreRunner Access Cab Sport. I'm stoked. It totally makes me think I'm driving an 09 Taco!

AFTER:

Hose Clamp/prevent tailgate theft

Meet & Greets
Hanging out with the bros from TW...
July of 2008 in Pine Valley. That's me in front of the FJ!!!

Ocotillo Wells in Jan of 09. Im the second one behind the Tundra (that got stuck later).

Otay Truck Trail in Chula Vista in Feb of 09.

We all had the chance to spin around in some mud at this trail. This was a blast!

Another meet & greet in March of 09 at Fiesta Island. I'm standing on my truck taking the picture.

Pine Valley in May of 09. There's Derek!

San Diego Caravan to the Off-Road Expo in Pomona on Oct 10, 2009.

Tacoma uses...
So I figured that I needed to add pictures of me using the "truck as a truck."
Coming back from Vacation

I'll admit it was a scary drive from Valley Center to Chula Vista, but worth it!

Alright... helping my sister move.

My wish list (or future mods).

Thank you and yes. The last thing I'll need to do is replace the rear tires, but I'll wait till they need replacing. One of those in the rear was causing my steering wheel to shake. They're in the back now and I'm free from the shaking.
