Now onto the main topic here, Toyota warranties. For those of you who have rapport with Handy Toyota, let's get right into it.

Toyota Extra Care Platinum is a heck of a deal (we’ll get to the suggested retail pricing in a moment), but the best part is perhaps the ways you can pay for it. Those of you who can afford the cost, be it the smallest retail price of $490 or the highest year/mileage combination warranty for the Land Cruiser of $2,420 (again, we’ll get back to pricing momentarily, I promise), you can in a sense finance your payment for 0%. I say in a sense because there is a charge of $135 - so how is this even close to 0% you ask? Well that $135 is not necessary all at once. In order to get a copy of your new Toyota Extra Care Platinum warranty in your hand, you send Handy’s a credit card number and we immediately charge you 10% of the total (the total being the cost of your warranty as shown below and the $135—that’s it!). The rest of your payments are split into 1/18ths, so you make 18 more equal payments.

Here’s another example: your Toyota Extra Care Platinum warranty costs $1,140. Tom, your Handy Toyota sales consultant (email him at tyoung@handycars.com) would charge your major credit card $114.00, and for the next 18 months your card would be charged $57. Hence, if you choose this the “financing” option the total price of the warranty goes up by $135. This is what Toyota charges Handy Toyota to offer this, and believe it or not we mark the retail price up next to nothing and this makes it impossible to wave a fee Toyota makes us pay. So again, when I say it’s close to 0% financing this is why.

But hey... it's still a good offer.

Best of all, your Toyota Extra Care Platinum warranty will cover everything except what’s listed on this list found here. The plan will even pay for towing to the nearest Toyota dealer, alternative transportation if the repairs last a while, and hotel stays if necessary. Your all-encompassing Bumper-to-Bumper doesn’t even provide these things!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is this a real Toyota Warranty?
Yes. Handy Toyota is very reputable Toyota dealer in St. Albans, VT, and we were in fact Vermont’s first Toyota dealer. To learn about Handy Toyota, click here.

Is there any deductible?
No, this is a zero-deductible plan.

Is there a Gold Plan?
There is, yes, but we only generally offer the Toyota Extra Care Platinum plan. The Gold plan doesn’t cover the parts that are more likely to break.

Does it matter where I, the buyer, live?
As long as you are in the United States you can buy one. As of now we cannot sell these outside of the U.S., however even if your vehicle breaks down in Canada you will be covered there as well as any dealer in America.

How does the coverage term work?
The year/mileage term you buy is the total duration of what your warranty will cover. So regardless of what your current mileage is if you buy a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty it will expire either at 7 years from the in-service date (i.e. the original date of the new vehicle purchase ), or when your vehicle’s odometer hits 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

How long do I have to buy one?
As long as your Toyota has less than 36,000 miles and is less than exactly 3 years old, you can purchase a Toyota Extra Care Platinum warranty.

Can I cancel the warranty I just paid two thousand dollars for and buy the Toyota Extra Care Platinum warranty?
It is possible, yes. If you contact Toyota at (800) 228-8559 you can discuss canceling your current warranty and see what your refund will be. Chances are it will not be what you paid because of dealer profit margins—that’s why it’s best to buy from Handy Toyota.

Why shouldn’t I wait until I have 35,000 miles to buy this if I have until 36,000 miles?
Price is the only incentive. These prices change yearly and we may not be offering this deal when you’re ready; secure it now and have the peace of mind.

How does the purchase process work?
You supply Tom Young your VIN, mileage, the exact name and billing address that the vehicle is registered under, and your credit card info. If you’re paying the entire amount Tom will charge it immediately, if you’re financing the payments (as mentioned above - contact Tom by clicking here for details) he will charge the 10% immediately. The paperwork will be mailed to you the same day with highlighted areas for you to sign, and when you’ve completed the required signature work you mail them back, Tom signs his side, and you get your proof of coverage.

How about modifications?
Your warranty will still cover everything unless the failed part is in direct relation to the modification. If your truck is lifted and you want suspension parts warranted, however, this isn’t covered. Some of this is at the dealer’s discretion as well, so be kind to them.

Is there Tax?
There is absolutely no sales tax.
