Ap1s rev to 9500 and ap2s rev to 8500... The ap1 tranny is actually an aisin ay6 so we all know they aren't the greatest things made and ap2 is actually geared better and is a stronger transmission due to the gearing itself is made better. These cars are nothing but toys... I really don't understand how you can't call this a toy... every time I drive my buddy's s2k it feels like i'm in a go cart... handles like one too... quick and nimble these little things are... ap1 does have the glass rear window though unlike the ap2s have the plastic one which is famous for cracking.

I guess I should be more specific. 2000-2001 ap1's came with plastic rear windows. But ALL ap2's came with glass rear window's from the factory. I too have friends who have or had s2000's. Including my berlina black hard top.

The car redlines at 9k, the 04+ redline at 8k

The AP1's (00-03) came with the plastic rear window, this is correct. My car had a new AP2 top put on last year so it has the much better glass rear window.

The AP1 has the older style console and radio door. I sped the $400 and upgraded to the AP2 console because i prefer the look over the AP1 style.

Why do i say this car is not a toy? Well because it's roughly 240HP (in stock form), rwd, and weights ~2500lb. It'll spin the tires in every gear. If you are not a good driver, you will crash this car in a heartbeat, it is not for the inexperienced and not to be driven like an asshat unless you are looking to wipe out. That said, it's like a go-kart, it's a lot of fun, and i refer to it as my "fun car".
