    i spent like a week on the purple spi, and i'm so fed up with it, rebuilt carb, replaced all the stuff i could, and starts beautifully, but won't run in water, so i bartered the parts one, for service to get the other 2 running

    I had a Hobie powerskiff with a 55 Evinrude that was the same way it seemed like it was afraid of the water but ran great in the driveway. Never could figure it out so I sold the boat.

    I never buy a "running" boat without seeing it run in the water......

    A boat motor (or jetski) can run perfectly out of the water........but when the prop (impellor) hits the resistance of water.....It has to overcome that resistance

    Typically if it will rev up out of water.......but when in the water, it just idles, and boggs down when throttled up........this means an issue with fire
    Always start with new (hotter) spark plugs, and see if that fixes it....


    Namm if your ski is running, but dies/boggs in the water.....I can fix that issue
    Bring it to me!!!

    damn it!!! you're so far away, and I just dropped the ski off yesterday, members on seadooforums suggest it could be settings on the carb related, or rotary valve clearance, so we'll see, i'm just sick of trailering it back and forth to the ramp to try it and continue to be disappointed

    I have a lake and people with boat lifts.......so we could lift out of water and work on it......then simply hit a lever and its lowered into the water to be tested.....:D so no trips back and forth......

    LMK how it turns out........ if its in a shop, they should have it fixed in no time

    I have had my boat now for 10yrs....... it has NEVER failed to start and perform as should

    it takes some simple preventative maintenance to keep a boat/ski working each summer ;)
