Sorry to hear about your financial woes, 007. I've been in that position and it sucks ass! That's why my wife no longer has her Highlander. Hope it all works out for you.

Say it ain't so! You need to get rid of your wifes car before you get rid of your baby! You're a mod on a Tacoma website, you cant get rid of it, thats just not right. Unless, you sell it and get a 1st get, that would be acceptable. Then you could finally get that 4x4 you want so bad. Whatever you do, you cant be without a Tacoma. I hope things work out for you, and if not i hope you at least end up with an older Taco.

This definitely won't be the last Tacoma I own, but for now - I just can't afford it. I can't get rid of her RAV4 because we use it for everything. We need the RAV4, but I love my Tacoma.

I would love to find a 95 4x4 2.7L, but they hold their resale value so high! Damn the luck. ;)

My wife has told me that we are NOT SELLING THE TACOMA. She thinks that she can work the numbers so that we can keep it. She saw how upset it made me, and she decided that we can do something else. Still poor, but still have my Tacoma.

Yeah, it is still too close for me. I don't think I ever imagined I could make this much money and still be poorer than dirt. Medical expenses, two houses, two car payments, traveling expenses (maintaining two houses), two tuitions, and other miscellaneous junk is taking my money faster than I can make it. I can't wait until we sell the house in Houston!

She is going to keep her job (which sucks) and continue going to school. I would rather have a happy wife than the Tacoma (I can get another one later), but she assures me that getting rid of the Tacoma was a bad idea. I know I would regret it. We are also getting some help from family.

It is really a complicated mess - our expenses. I know most of it, but I stay out of it. I just make the money. When we have more, I will get to spend some, but for now she and I are scraping along.

You could always do what i do.... not pay. I haven't been making payment on my student loans in a while now. I actually got an email from citibank the other day saying "even though you have fallen behind on your loans we have a solution... please call blah blah blah" i dont want to call them up and tell them i can afford to pay them i just refuse to, i dont think that would go over too well. my thinking is this. i got charged out the ass for a degree that i dont even use. I make over double doing what i'm doing now than what i would make if i were useing my degree, so i dont feel i should pay for it. I'm sure they think otherwise but thats why im ignoring them. I hope if i ignore them long enough tehy will go away. My mom says i live in a fantasy world, i say what wrong with that? its better than the real world. In my fantasy world all my co-workers are strippers.... beat that you bunch of real world chumps!

"I like being in my own world - everyone knows me there." - unknown

I tried that for, hmm, 3 years. Then they dinged my credit. That's not fair - that's my credit not theirs. Keep your hands to yourself! :p

This sounds like some straight from Jack Handey.

Once while walking through the mall a guy came up to me and said, 'Hey, how's it going?' So I grabbed his arm and twisted it up behind his head and said 'Now who's asking the questions?'

haha! i dont know why that reminds you of Jack Handey but it was pretty funny, i use to love those skits on SNL :)

yeah, people keep telling me they're gonna ruin my credit but we'll see. Maybe i can hide my credit in a jar in my back yard. They cant ruin what they cant find....

I'm sorry, but I just sort of felt like adding my 2 cents worth, to balance the weight of a couple other posts here.

A few years back, my father bought a business from a buddy of his. After he bought the business, he found out his "buddy" had run up multiple debts against the business and had decided not to pay his suppliers. He sold the business to my father to get rid of the debts, so they wouldn't go against his credit and to save himself a bankruptcy. He had hidden the debts from my father. When the debts were discovered, rather than go back to his friend (whom he still considered a friend) and sue the guy, my dad went to the suppliers (the creditors) and made arrangements to pay off all the former owner's debts, for which my father, in fact, was not liable. In the end, the suppliers would bend over backwards to help my father, because of what he had done.

So, that's how I was raised. You pay your debts. There is no gray area here. You stand up like a man and you pay your debts. Soon or late, what goes around comes around.

Stick with things, Mark. Watch your spending, pay your debts, save money. things will work out. Here's the formula: 10% to charity, 10% to savings, live off the rest. If you follow that, you will be financially independent in 20 years, regardless of your current income level.
