Did anybody but me get a PM from the OP that said they were 'first' or 'the winner?' If not, then what he did isn't such a bad thing, IMO.

He posted an item for sale for too little. As a result, he received all kinds of interest, including my $100 offer. Before telling anybody they were the winner, he realized that his price was bad and sold them to me. In the process, he rec'd twice what he was asking.

This is different than selling to somebody, then receiving a higher offer and reneging on the original deal. A TW member did this once and got flamed for it (by me, too). I've had that pulled on me, too. There was no original deal on this one... so nobody got screwed out of anything.

People are getting way too uppity about this.

I'll chime in on this one. He obviously set the price too low to start with. His fault for not doing his homework. He SHOULD have honored the original price, but when the offer for double that came in he took it. Most of us would have priced an item right the first time, but it's hard to turn down an extra 50 bucks. I am one of the guys who PM'd within minutes of the post going up, and I'm disappointed I didn't really get a fair shot at these.

:(..... I had already confirmed the $100 offer as soon as it was offered.. and for the record, this is only my second time selling something on tacoma world. But I will keep this sell in mind next time I sell anything. Sorry for anyone who feels if they were cheated in any way.

Now that the OP has responded, I agree that it should be locked.

its your sell, your money, your reputation...

i agree as well. ill shut up now:cool:

you got that right. ill definitely think twice when looking at future sell threads.

at minimum, he could have told the guy who should have been first in line that he had an offer for $100 from someone else and see where it went from there. matt, no offense, but you arent going to complain because you got them. there are no broken rules here, more of an ethical/moral issue dealing with reputation on the forum as well.

if i were him, i wouldve at least tried to negotiate with the first guy. but ultimately he should have honored the original price and the guy who was first in line.

    I don't take offense. I understand I'm in a unique position here.

FWIW, I PM'd him w/in 2 minutes of the original post, so it's not like I swooped in and screwed over 50 people.
